MISSION
Why are we here?
KM is a football club that emphasizes:
-
Athletic practice, competition, and cultural exchange: Encouraging and promoting progress in Icelandic football based on shared values. We aim to be a role model club that focuses on quality and excellence, with a long-term project that ensures incremental and sustainable development across organizational, social, and athletic fields.
-
Promotion of sports and movement: Using physical activity as a tool to improve health and encourage community participation.
-
Social responsibility: Having a positive impact on our environment through sports initiatives and solidarity.
-
Utilizing football, sports, and education as tools to better the world: We design projects that support environmental protection, cultural exchange, education, and charitable causes.
VISION
What do we want to be? Where are we headed?
-
To be a leading sports and social institution with a solid and unified club structure.
-
To strengthen the KM brand both internally and externally.
-
To increase the sense of belonging within the club.
-
To achieve better athletic results in Icelandic competitions while respecting and implementing the club’s values.
-
To be a leader in Icelandic football—a social institution that is respected, admired, and loved, where values and educational aspects take priority.
-
To build partnerships with institutions worldwide to achieve our goals.
-
To create connections and projects that give players with limited resources the opportunity to grow personally and professionally within football.
-
To create connections and projects that provide people in other communities with fewer opportunities the chance to empower themselves through sports and education.
VALUES
-
Positive and Fun Football: We create a positive environment where happy players achieve better results while everyone enjoys the learning process.
-
Respect: A cornerstone of sports and life. Respect for the game, integrity, diversity, dignity, rules, referees, opponents, and supporters.
-
Commitment: Being an active participant in the process, enjoying victories, and overcoming hardships. Social and environmental responsibility—being better people in a better society.
-
Ambition: Improving day by day. Helping others improve. Contributing to the growth of the KM community. A winner’s mindset and high-reaching goals.
-
Passion: Do more of what you love and give it your all.
-
Creativity: Finding the best ways to bring joy to others with minimal resources. New ideas, new connections, and a new perspective on the world.
-
Amateurism vs. Professionalism: Returning to the roots of football—the passion and love for the game. Implementing that philosophy within a professional framework and responsibility.
-
Multiculturalism: Sharing knowledge and traditions. Welcoming everyone regardless of origin, gender, race, or religion. Promoting and sharing Icelandic and European football culture while learning from other cultures.
-
Tolerance: Respecting and accepting different opinions, behaviors, or beliefs regardless of sexual orientation, religion, or origin. Being willing to accept those who are different from oneself.
-
Gender Equality: Fighting for women’s rights based on equality. A commitment to promoting women’s football where it is still developing.
-
Non-political Work: We are a club that focuses on the community and its improvement through independent thought. We respect all viewpoints that align with human rights.
-
Gratitude: We are a privileged community and thank everyone who makes our work possible.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Players:
-
Know the FIFA Laws of the Game, the values, vision, and mission of KM, as well as the code of conduct and internal team rules.
-
Play hard but fair. Strive to follow the laws of the game in every aspect.
-
Show good sportsmanship. Respect all participants—opponents, referees, coaches, and spectators. Understand the spirit of the game and avoid dishonest play.
-
Be positive to enjoy the game and help others enjoy it too.
-
Support your team; be a team player, not a soloist. Encourage learning, commitment, and growth with patience.
-
Avoid, to the best of your ability, protesting referee decisions publicly. Remember that loud protests undermine the referee's authority and can ruin the experience for all participants.
-
Show respect. Never insult or criticize participants. Offensive or rude language is completely contrary to the spirit of the game.
-
Enjoy football to the fullest, but remember that in the end, it is only a game. Avoid negative interactions with spectators.
-
Do your best, through words and example, to encourage those who find it harder to follow these rules.
-
Show tolerance toward the religious and political views of others. Never use the KM name to define political or religious convictions.
-
We are a multicultural Icelandic club founded by Spaniards. We encourage all members to learn and speak Icelandic. We emphasize positive communication and encourage members to use a language everyone understands at our events. Our official languages are Icelandic and English.
-
Support other KM teams at events and on social media. Get to know and learn from players in other teams within the club.
-
Thank the coach, teammates, and staff after every practice and match with a handshake.
Coaches:
-
Know the FIFA Laws of the Game, the values, and the mission of KM, and be a key person in implementing them.
-
Educate players on KM’s values and code of conduct and encourage them to follow them at all times.
-
Treat referees and staff with respect and teach players to do the same.
-
Maintain control over emotions and avoid language or gestures that could be interpreted as hostile or demeaning.
-
Promote and practice good sportsmanship and never encourage rule-breaking or behavior contrary to the spirit of the game.
-
Ensure that spectators always show maturity and sportsmanship, and assist the referee in maintaining control of spectators if necessary.
-
Be a role model in showing respect toward opponents and demand the same from your players.
